In the summer of 2016, a simple night out in Washington, D.C. became the beginning of something neither Fortune nor Precious could have planned. Both college students at the time—19 and 20 years old—they met through what seemed like a chance encounter on the dance floor. Fortune hadn’t even planned to be in D.C. that night, but somehow the evening unfolded exactly the way it was meant to.

After that first meeting, their connection quickly deepened. What started with a thoughtful goodnight text soon turned into hours-long conversations that stretched late into the night. Over the following weeks and months, they discovered a bond that felt effortless and rare—one that made time feel irrelevant and distance feel small.

Through college graduations and the transition into adulthood, they grew alongside each other. For five years, their relationship was filled with learning, growth, laughter, and the experience of navigating life together during some of its most formative years.

In 2021, after five years together, they made the difficult decision to part ways and focus on their individual journeys. Fortune eventually relocated to Texas, while Precious remained in the D.C. area. Though their paths temporarily diverged, their story was far from finished.

Over the next few years, they slowly found their way back to one another. By 2024, they had reconnected and quickly realized that the bond they once shared had never truly disappeared—it had only grown deeper with time and maturity.

When Fortune expressed his desire to begin a relationship again, Precious reminded him that after the five years they had already spent building their foundation, there was no need to start over. If their story was continuing, it was time to move forward.

And so, in the fall of 2025, Fortune asked Precious to marry him.

Today, they continue building their future together—stronger, wiser, and more in love than ever before. Their relationship has lived through two beautiful seasons: young love in their early twenties, and a deeper, intentional love as adults. Having known each other throughout the entire decade of their twenties, they step into this new chapter with a love shaped by time, growth, and destiny.
